Senior Vice Admiral heads an impressive list of speakers at Sailors’ Society Cadet Conference.

The former chief of the Navy of the Philippines and the man responsible for the initial modernisation of the country’s fleet is the keynote speaker at Sailors’ Society’s Wellness at Sea South East Asia Cadet Conference on October 5.

Thousands of cadets from maritime schools and colleges across the region will hear from VADM Eduardo Santos (Ret) as part of this unique virtual event, now in its third year, designed especially for those about to embark on a career at sea.

‘Wellbeing skills for future seafarers’ is offered free to cadets by the international maritime charity and explores seafarer wellness and mental health with a focus on key and current issues facing today's mariners.

VADM Santos, who is now the President of the Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific and Executive Vice President of AMOSUP (Associated Marine Officers’ and Seamen’s Union of the Philippines) heads an impressive list of international and regional maritime employers and industry speakers.

This list includes an in-depth Industry Interview with Capt. Charles Chong, from Britannia P&I Club, and a session with renowned maritime cadet influencer Van Villanueva, who will share skills for handling bullying and harassment.

Sailors’ Society CEO, Sara Baade, said: “As well as practical advice from the speakers, this bespoke event in the maritime curriculum features interactive sessions and panel discussions all designed to give this next generation of seafarers the tools and knowledge to ensure they can flourish in their chosen maritime careers.

“At Sailors’ Society, we offer a circle of care to seafarers and their families that begins at the very start of their careers. Today’s cadets are tomorrow’s workforce and the industry’s future leaders, and we want them to flourish at sea.”
