GRANTS

Transforming lives through our Sea Change Fund

We can step in when there are pressing welfare needs providing support with vital bills like food and medicine or education costs.

Our welfare and education grants help serving and retired seafarers, and their dependents, when they are in great need of financial support.

YOUR SUPPORT IS VITAL

Our Sea Change Fund exists due to the generosity of our donors.

By contributing to our Sea Change Fund, you make it possible for us to give seafarers and their families a grant when they need it most – whether it’s for medical bills, repatriation costs for an abandoned crew or education costs for children desperate to learn.

If you'd like to lend your support to seafarers in crisis, please contact our partnerships team for an informal chat at [email protected]

Thank you to our supporters

Gard Vice President and internationally renowned shipping lawyer Julian Clark, who sadly died in April 2024, was instrumental in helping to set up our Sea Change grants programme.

We are hugely grateful to him, for all his years of support and his heart for seafarers.

In 2022, he said: "For far too long our seafarers have been invisible outside the direct shipping community and yet every one of us benefits every day from the work they do and the dangers they face. It is vital that their key role is recognised and that they are protected both at sea and ashore."
